ALBANY, GA --
The City of Albany has released the names of two people they feel are most qualified to become Director of the Albany Transit System.

In a press release from the Albany City Manager James Taylor's office, they have named David Hamilton of Albany, Georgia, as the best qualified candidate for the position. The second most qualified candidate named is Michael F. Salamone from Medina, Ohio.

According to the press release, Mr. Hamilton is currently Interim ATS Director, holding this position since September 2011.  Prior to that, he was ATS Deputy Director beginning in September 2010.  Mr. Hamilton served as Transportation Planner for the City of Albany Planning and Development Services Department from April 2002 to September 2010.  Before coming to the City of Albany, Mr. Hamilton was Materials Manager for Nypro Georgia for 9 years.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southwestern University.

Mr. Salamone is currently Transit Director for the Medina County Transit Department, Medina, Ohio.  His prior experience includes General Manager for the First Group America (First Transit), a transit management company, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Operations Supervisor for the City of Kalamazoo Metro Transit in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing and an Associate’s degree in Business/Accounting.

The city says they are providing public notice of Mr. Taylor’s decision on the best qualified candidate in compliance with Georgia’s open records law and that at least 14 days must now pass before there is final action on selecting the ATS Director.
