ALBANY, GA. --

The Lee County Sheriffs Office has captured two men involved in a string of weekend car break-ins.

Lee County residents James Adam, 19, and Cody Kalawaia, 19, are charged with entering auto, and other charges are pending connected to the thefts.

Deputies began getting calls about missing items on Saturday. Over eight cars in four different locations around town had been broken into.

While following up with victims, a Lee County Sheriffs deputy got the break they've been looking for.

One of the victims pointed officers in the direction of a home where possible suspects could be hiding out.

“Some advised me that a subject had run under the back porch. At that point in time me and another deputy went behind the house and made contact with him and placed him in custody,” says Tim Holman, Lee County Deputy.

While searching the area where the suspect was sleeping, officers found thousands of dollars worth of missing items.

“The items were either inside the house or most of them we're inside the vehicle that they were using to store it in,” says Reggie Rachals, Lee County Sheriff.

After catching up with the second suspect, authorities discovered the remainder of items that were stolen over the course of the weekend including laptops, GPS devices, and credit cards.

Officials say the suspects went into several cars in the North Hampton subdivision. They say this incident should serve as a warning to residents to lock their cars.

“It's a shame that you got to do that to keep the thieves out of a car but unfortunately you go to have the inconvenience of locking your cars and protecting your property,” says Reggie Rachals.
