ALBANY, GA --
The Fourth of July is known as a huge traveling holiday but with tropical storm Debby getting closer, will your plans be affected?

Travel agents say there are plenty of unforeseen conflicts, like hurricanes, that can alter your travel plans, but there is a way to ensure you won't lose your money.

"The number one thing that they should do is always buy travel insurance. That way they're covered for anything unforeseen," said owner of Travel Savings For U Curtis Dixon.

Map out a couple of routes so you can still get to your destination if roads are flooded or closed and make sure to pack snacks and a first aid kit in case the storm is serious enough to leave you stranded.

Dixon also says cancellations can happen both ways - always keep a reserve of extra cash if your vacation needs to be extended a day or two extra.
