ALBANY, GA --
Next Wednesday, Albany Recreation and Parks is planning a Fourth of July celebration they say you won't forget.

"Approximately 3800 ground shells and there will be about 1200 aerial shells. ‘So how big of a show is this?’ It will be massive,” said fireworks coordinator, Dale Henry.

Starting at 5 p.m., cold drinks and food will be for sale in the parking lot of the James H. Gray Sr. Civic Center to kick off a $25,000 Fourth of July fireworks display that organizers hope thousands turn out for.

"We end up getting a really huge crowd of about at least 35-40,000 people or more every year for the fireworks," said Albany Recreation and Parks Special Events and Marketing Coordinator, Kristin Caso.

Those coordinating the show say it will be a family-friendly event for everyone to enjoy, but whenever there's a large crowd and explosives involved, there's precautions that everyone needs to take.

"We keep the area roped of which is for fallout. Nobody inside of our area once we set up," said Henry.

Additional measures will be taken to ensure the public's safety.

"We will have plenty of APD officers out there enforcing laws."

Some of those laws include no weapons, like pocket knives, no alcoholic beverages, and no personal fireworks such as sparklers. Coordinators say if you follow these simple rules, it will be a night you won't forget.

“If you get a good ground spot, it's going to be something to see,” said Henry.

“Just be set for something that's going to knock your socks off," said Caso.

For those interested in taking full advantage of Fourth of July celebrations, the Flint RiverQuarium and the Thronateeska Heritage Center have teamed up to offer dual admission to all ages for only $8.
