ALBANY, GA --
The Albany Fire Department isn’t letting this week’s high temperatures stop them from training.

Firefighters converged on the Albany Fire Department Training Center to run through a variety of drills and scenarios.

Do to excessive heat, firefighters have to take a 5-10 minute break between exercises. During the break, firefighters are reminded to hydrate.

The hot temperatures actually make the training more realistic says Senior Firefighter Roderick McKenzie: "They always taught us to drill the way we train. So the heat, if someone’s house is burning we can't have the heat be a factor. So you gotta’ do what you gotta’ do."

That being said the fire department will be taking the month of July off from training.
