LEESBURG, GA --
Temperatures are rising as we continue to push through the summer months. Children are out of school, people are barbequing by the pool or out camping with their family and  the threat for fires has increased. Lee County Elementary held a Progressive AG day to educate students on fire safety.

Todd Kirkland, Captain Shift Supervisor with the Lee County Fire Department, says that "it's always important to educate the children on fire safety."

If there is a fire, The first step is to get out, stay out and call 911.

Adults have been educated throughout their childhood on what one should do but, something overlooked is how to use a fire extinguisher. Do you know how to use one properly?

There is a simple method that makes it easy for a child and adults; firefighters are teaching people to P.A.S.S.--pull the pin, aim the nozzle, squeeze the handle and sweep at base of the fire.

Remember to be careful when dealing with fire. Know the facts and be prepared.
