ALBANY, GA --
The Albany Police Department held a press conference to discuss the recent string of catalytic converter thefts.
Catalytic converters are located on the underside of a car and require some time to detach, so vehicles parked for an extended period of time are being targeted.
"The majority of the locations have been the ride shares, where people park multiple cars at one location and leave them for an extended period of time," said detective Timothy Harvey.
34-year-old Scott Ansley Anderson was recently arrested for stealing a converter out of a car parked at the mall but police are still looking for other offenders.
Officials advise people to schedule for someone to check your car if you plan on leaving it for longer than usual.
