ALBANY, GA --
The Legislative Committee held their annual luncheon to review the positives and negatives of the 2012 legislative session.

Senator Freddie Powell Sims says there's a lot to be happy about, "There are things we consider extremely important that we take care of, especially the budget, so being able to balance the budget and take care of all the needs of Georgians, I consider that to be a successful session."

Some of the major issues tackled were, procreation, education, and energy. More specifically House Bill 386, which will phase out sales tax on energy used in manufacturing. This will significantly benefit companies like Proctor and Gamble, one of the area's biggest employers.

The session lasted for 40 non-consecutive days, and ran from January to March. 

Legislators will now try to get TSPLOST paced. A penny tax aimed to improve roads and bridges, and will create numerous jobs in the area.
