LEESBURG, GA --
People have asked FOX 31 if there are any plans for a memorial for a fallen Lee County Marine Lance Corporal Steven Sutton.

According to Leesburg's American Legion Post 182 Commander Pat Walsh, he hasn't heard anything about a parade, but is working with the southwest Georgia veteran's groups, the Lee County Chamber of Commerce and the mayor of Leesburg to try and get an event together.

He stated that he is waiting until Friday to talk to the family to see what they want to do as far as a memorial. If they decide they don't want a public memorial, there wont be. If they don't mind, a memorial will go forward, whether that be a parade or people lining the streets to honor the funeral procession.

Walsh feels that Sutton should be honored just as Luke Bryant and Phillip Phillips were. He has talked with the American Legion Post 30 in Albany and they have offered to donate flags if a memorial is to take place.

Places around Lee County have started to change their sign messages in memorial to Sutton.

Marine Lance Corporal Steven Sutton is scheduled to be buried at Crown Hill Cemetary in Albany.
