This Memorial Day hits close to home as FOX 31 has learned from American Legion Post 182 Commander Pat Walsh that a Lee County Marine will be added to the list of fallen veterans.

Marine Lance Corporal Steven Sutton, 24, died in Afghanistan after a roadside bomb explosion. Sutton graduated from Lee County High School in 2007.

In a story posted to WWNT News Radio in Dothan, Alabama, WWNT talked to some of the coaches from the Lee County Football team about his time there. Defensive line coach Ed Reaves described him as "a really goofy kid, that liked to joke around, have a lot of fun. But on Friday nights, he was all about competing and playing hard."

He’s survived by his wife and step-daughter. WWNT also spoke to Sutton's wife, who said that "he's not just an American hero, he's also her hero."
