SYLVESTER,GA --
The Sylvester Fire Department found itself without a fire chief Thursday.

Fire Chief Jody Yarbrough resigned from the position.

In the email sent out to associates, he states he is appreciative of everyone's hard work and looks forward to a positive future.

Yarbrough obtained better training and equipment for the department during his time there.

It’s said Yarbrough is resigning to pursue further career opportunities.

Assistant Fire Chief Chris Duncan will be filling in as interim chief until a permanent change is made.
