ALBANY, GA --
One of Phoebe's nurses is claiming a title that she never imagined having.

Jill Wilcox, a nurse at Phoebe Northwest, is now the 2012 nurse of the year.

Wilcox was chosen from a group of 45 nurses who had been nominated by their peers for dedication to their jobs.

She says she was surprised during last week's annual nursing ceremony when her name was called.

“I'm very humbled and honored that I was chosen.  All I know is that we were given a piece of paper to fill out on our co workers. Who do you think deserves this and why? I never in a million years thought I would be a candidate, much less win. I was in shock and still am,” says Jill Wilcox.

Wilcox has been a nurse for 15 years.
