ALBANY, GA --
Darton State College cut the ribbon on its brand new bookstore Tuesday.

It's the first of its kind on the campus.

Construction crews broke ground on the site in September 2011 to make way for the 6,000 square foot facility.

Previously, books and merchandise had been sold out of a double wide trailer at the far end of campus.

“Great to have a facility that we can expand in that has air conditioning and heat and that we have drinks and things that students can do and not just come in here to buy supplies but to come in and maybe read a magazine or sit down and read a book for a little while,” says Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs Gary Barnette.

The facility will also allow for plenty of growth in the coming years.
