ALBANY,GA --
Dougherty County commissioners heard from Chuck Schadl Monday.

He's the Director of the Georgia Tech Small Business Procurement Program, formally the small business office.

Schadl is recommending the commission not renew their contract next year because the certification aspect of the program is not cost effective.

“They've consistently asked, do we have to be certified in order to do business with the county, and of course the answer to that question is no, you don't have to be certified to do business with the county. And so with that, many of them are simply not interested in going through the certification process,” says Schadl.

Discontinuing the contract would save the county $50,000 a year.
