ALBANY, GA --

Physicians and nurses at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital will soon have a more efficient way of transmitting patient information.

Whether it’s ordering medication or an x-ray for a patient, the information will be processed in a computer instead of hand-written, which can slow the process down.

“Because the paper has to be processed through either faxes or someone has to see it, someone else has to take it, it's a very time consuming process. But electronically, it's instantaneously sent to the right location,” says Chief Information Officer Jesse Diaz.

The process, which will go live May 15, will also cut down on human error.
