ALBANY, GA --
The memory of Albany Civil Rights activist, Johnnie Johnson has finally found a home.

The Albany City Commission voted unanimously during their Tuesday meeting to rename the Albany City Public Works building.

The building resides in Ivy Hines' ward, who says he always thought it a suitable landmark.

“When the topic first came up, that was the first place that come to me because it is really a statement, because at that time, that's where most of the people that he helped were actually working and that's where he was employed at,” says Hines.

No word yet on a design for the new memorial.
