Great American Clean Up in Leesburg

LEE COUNTY, GA -- The Lee County Board of Commissioners hosted its annual Great American Clean up this weekend.

The county wide event included the cities of Smithville and Leesburg.

Volunteers removed trash and litter from county and city right of ways, storm drain systems, and parks.

This event has helped improve the overall appearance of the county and its cities for more than five years.

Jim Quinn Leesburg Mayor say's"when family connections and ROTC and Leesburg sports get together to make the community a better place and they give up there Saturday morning its a great thing."

In the clean up volunteers picked up over 22 thousand pounds of garbage.
