DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA --
Government leaders "Stashed The Trash" early Friday morning.

For more than five years, this community-wide litter pick-up event has happened annually.

Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful participated in the event with volunteers from all walks of life to join environmental hands and become agents of positive change.

That included many elected officials, city and county department heads as well.

Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard says "we're getting out here this morning taking the lead and showing you that we are sincere and serious about cleaning our city."

Last year, a record 39.49 tons of litter  was removed from over 137.25 miles of roadside.
