ALBANY, GA --

The Dougherty County Commission supports the act of donating organs to those in need.

Carla Hawkins with LifeLink addressed the commission, who proclaimed this month as 'Donate Life Month'.

According to Hawkins, a patient is added to the organ or tissue transplant waiting list every eleven minutes.

“It's about life, it's a happy occurrence and it's something when people get a second chance at life and family members are able to hold on to their mother or child a little bit longer,” says Hawkins.

LifeLink is a non-profit organ and tissue procurement organization.
