ALBANY,GA --
Folks were able to safely dispose of documents with their personal information at the Heritage Bank on Westover Boulevard.

Representatives say it's now more important than ever to shred documents such as bank statements, tax forms, even junk mail.

“And of course the most popular way for identity thieves to get your information isn't cyber theft, it's actually dumpster diving,” says Bank Spokesperson Heather Nichols.

Georgia ranks second in the nation for cases of identity theft.
