Publix lends a helping hand to local United Way

ALBANY, GA --
Publix Supermarkets gave United Way a helping hand Wednesday morning.

Around 9 a.m., Publix Supermarkets presented United Way with a check from the George W. Jenkins Foundation, named in honor of the Public founder, in the amount of $22,600.  That donation, along with Publix employee’s contributions totaled $53,463 for the 2011 United Way Campaign. The manager of the Lee County Publix, Garrett Tukes and the manager of the Albany Publix, Greg Boxx presented the check to Jim Deal, Chairman of the Board of Directors for United Way.

United Way representatives say "these funds will be allocated to their 22 member agencies this coming July.  This money goes a long way in helping meet the needs of our community.  We are extremely grateful to Publix for their generous contribution and in helping us “advance the common good”.
