ALBANY, GA. --
It’s getting close to the deadline to get your taxes done, and if you haven't already done so, don't worry because the tax day has been pushed back this year.

Tax day will fall on April 17th this year due to Emancipation Day on Monday.

Tax preparers say if you've waited until the final week to prepare your taxes you should have all of your paperwork in order.

Make a check list for all needed documents to avoid mistakes and having to start over.

If you’re considering asking for a tax extension, here's something to keep in mind.

“It's very it's very important to remember that extension does not extend the time to pay the taxes owed. So, if someone believes they are going to file an extension they need to take the time to estimate the amount that's owe for federal and state purposes,” says Miles Espy, Certified Public Accountant for the Draffin and Tucker Accounting firm.

A tax extension can be filed as late as October 15th.
