44th Anniversary Fair Housing Act

ALBANY, GA --
City of Albany and Dougherty County leaders signed a proclamation to celebrate the 44th Anniversary of the Federal Fair Housing Act.

The Act is a national policy of fair housing throughout the United States. 

With this Act its makes it illegal for any discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity or marital status, in the sale, lease or rental of housing. 

Jeff Sinyard Dougherty County Commission Chairman says,“Housing week is very very important the mayor and I believe strongly in making sure that all aspects of our community are dealt with in the right way. The Fair Housing Week puts really puts a perspective on if everyone is being treated and feed out of the same spoon.”

On Thursday at 6pm the Department of Community and Economic Development will have a workshop on the Fair Housing Law and the Georgia Landlord Tenant Law at Microbusiness Enterprise Center.
