ALBANY, GA --
The Georgia Senate has passed a vicious dog bill that will hold owners of certain dogs more accountable.

Owners of dogs who are deemed "vicious" must have their pet micro chipped as well as have a $50,000 insurance policy.

If their dog attacks someone a second time, the owner could be thrown in jail for a year and fined $5,000.

“It's mainly an accountability thing. If you're going to keep anything that's dangerous, whether it's dynamite or a dog or anything else, you have to assume responsibility for whatever problems might come up as a result of that,” says Attorney Al Courriere.

Some changes were made to the bill, so the House must vote to approve it again this week.
