ALBANY, GA --
Friends of the Broad Avenue Bridge have filed a second appeal to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

They’re wondering why they can't rehabilitate the bridge instead of demolishing it.

The group will hold a public meeting Monday night where they'll hear from principal architect of the Horace King Bridge in Columbus, who went through a similar situation recently.

“They were told that their bridge could not be rehabilitated. They got the right people on the job and they're getting it done at almost half the cost of what we've been quoted,” says Njemile Ali, an advocate for the bridge rehabilitation.

The meeting will be at the Albany police station Monday night at 6:00 p.m. in the community room.
