Dougherty County Jail
ALBANY, GA -- Albany Police arrest one and are looking for two more in an early Thursday morning car theft.
According to police, officers were conducting a building check in the 2200 block of North Slappey Boulevard when they noticed a white, 1999 Acura TL leaving the Smart Cars car lot around 2 a.m. They followed the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver continued until he reached Acker and Edgewood. Police say that's where three individuals, all males, jumped out of the car and ran. After a brief foot chase, APD says officers were able to apprehend and arrest one of the suspect. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of an injury he sustained during the foot chase. He was identified as 18-year-old Michael Brown. He has been charged with burglary and theft by taking.
Authorities say that a further search of the building revealed that the business had been burglarized via a broken front door and keys were taken. The search continues for the two remaining suspects.
