DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA --
When it gets warmer, you can usually count on the mosquitoes to come out.

Over the past few days, the Dougherty County Public Works Department has been on mosquito patrol.

Crews have noticed a slight increase in the mosquito population.

Environmental Control Manager Donell Mathis says Tuesday was the first day the 'control unit' took a step to prevent southwest Georgians from getting bit.

Mathis says they will "be spraying four trucks per night depending on the mosquito population".

Officials say they'll conduct daily mosquito landing counts to determine how regular they'll need to spray.
