ALBANY, GA --

City commissioners took a look at proposed district lines at their meeting Tuesday.

Old proposed lines had placed downtown in ward two, and commissioners wanted to keep it in ward three.

Another issue was population changes.

“The biggest changes, ward five had grown dramatically and had to lose population, ward two had shrunk dramatically and ward three had shrunk enough that we needed to get more people in it as well,” says Assistant City Manager Wes Smith.

After another vote at a work session, they will hold two public hearings for people to look at the lines before sending it to the Department of Justice for approval.
