ALBANY, GA --
For those of you wondering, yes, the mayor does get a salary, as do the city commissioners.

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard receives a salary of $25,000 a year with a $10,000 expense account.

And while the commission does have deciding power over the amount, it's not a snap judgment--any changes do not take effect immediately.

“But any changes in salaries, interestingly, must be done by a prior commission, I believe it takes two years for any sort of pay change to come in so you can't give yourself a raise so to speak,” says Assistant City Manager Wes Smith.

Commissioners receive $15,000 a year with a $7,500 expense account.
