Colleges such as Harvard University and the University of Scranton are spending their spring break building houses in Albany
ALBANY, GA -- Four colleges from outside the Peach State came to Albany this week to help build homes for veterans.
Harvard University, the University of New Hampshire, the University of Scranton and Francis Marion University helped the Flint River Habitat for Humanity on Monday. It’s a part of the Collegiate Challenge where various colleges help Habitat for Humanity during their spring breaks.
Monday's 65 volunteers helped build three houses for local hearing or visually impaired veterans.
"I like the mission of habitat for humanity and I like to being able to meet the family and know really who it's going to," says University of Scranton Senior Kerry Madden.
The Flint River Habitat for Humanity says they are still looking for veterans to live in the newest houses they’re building. Those interested can apply at the organization’s Pine Avenue location.
