ALBANY, GA. --
An Albany woman has walked away with just a scratch after being shot in the stomach by a stray bullet.

Josie Springer, 29, says she was outside her home in the 1300 Block of East Residence Avenue with her children when she heard gunshots from afar.

The woman says after a few minutes a bullet fell out of the sky, went through her shirt and struck her in the stomach.

Albany police officers arrived on the scene around just after 12:30 p.m.

Springer was treated by EMS officials and released.

Officers say the bullet appears to have come from a 9mm caliber handgun.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
