ALBANY, GA --
Saturday was the opening day for the Albany National Little League for its regular season.

Albany Police Chief John Proctor stopped by for the opening ceremony to give an inspirational message to the players.

After his message, he threw the ceremonial first pitch of the 2012 Spring season.

The league is looking forward to showing players the fundamentals of baseball, team work, and physical fitness.

Al Mckendrick with the Albany National Little League says "baseball is a national pastime and it’s a great tool. The fundamental of baseball expresses to them their joy for sports and physical fitness while maintaining a positive influence in the community."

The Albany Nationals are a Little League affiliate and they have their eyes set on the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
