ALBANY, GA --
It was a soggy start and finish for runners in the Albany Marathon.

Just fewer than 2,000 participants made their way to the starting line. A light drizzle started with the cannon at 7am.

Many of the runners knew that rain was forecasted but this didn't stop them from participating in 13.1 mile half marathon or the 26.2 mile full marathon.

When the severe weather warning was issued during the race just after eight o’clock, it worried one Albany racers’ wife.

Brigitte Tidwell of Americus said “I want him to understand, I don't care what happens in a race if you hear sirens I want him to go for cover. I think that’s what I would ask him to do in the future.”

The Mardi Gras weekend and the Turtle Race have been rescheduled for next Saturday, March 10th.

This event is expected to generate two million dollars.
