ALBANY, GA --
Albany firemen responded to a kitchen fire at 1014 East Roosevelt that caused $22,000 worth of damage.

Crews got the call Monday night around 11:45.

Flames were seen shooting out of the windows.

It caused damage to the kitchen, the living room and a third room.

Chief Allen Cravey with the Albany Fire Department says people don't realize how quickly a fire can spread.

“Depending on the materials that you have involved, common household items, the flame can double in size every two to three minutes,” says Cravey.

The cause is still under investigation.
