ALBANY, GA. --
For FOX 31’s Facebook story of the day, fans want to know exactly what is pre-diabetes.

According to officials at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, pre-diabetes is a condition where people have higher than normal blood glucose levels but the levels aren’t quite high enough for the patient to be diagnosed as a diabetic.

Doctors say in this stage people are able to prolong diagnosis of the disease by changing their eating habits and exercising.

They say since pre-diabetes isn't a full diagnosis, it can be hard to detect without routine medical testing.

Diabetes is more common in African-Americans, Latinos, and Asian/Pacific Islanders.
