ALBANY, GA -- Sheriff Kevin Sproul announced his employees of the year at Monday’s Dougherty County commission meeting.

Lt. Shirley Adams, Deputy Danny Brown and Lt. Anita Allen were honored by the sheriff's office.

They were the first to arrive on the scene the day Albany Police Officer Terry Fleming was killed in an automobile accident during a high speed chase involving two robbery suspects.

“Me and a couple other officers pulled her out to a safe place because the flames were intense, so we pulled her back in a safe place and tried to get aid,” says Deputy Brown.

Deputy Danny Brown says he was just doing his job.
