Updated: Police need the public's assistance in locating a person of interest; they say the man hit a police car during a vehicle pursuit

ALBANY, GA --
Update: The Albany Police Department is still asking for the public's help is locating David Irvin Harper.

The man is wanted in connection to a high speed chase through Albany.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Albany Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS.


Initial Story (2/7/2012)
The Albany Police Department has a person of interest in a case involving a suspect who hit a police car during a vehicle pursuit. Now APD is seeking the public's help finding him.

Police say David Irvin Harper was in a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado with another person in the 900 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard on Tuesday. Police say they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a reckless driver, but the driver ignored the officer's lights and sirens, leading to a pursuit. 

During the pursuit, the driver attempted to ram the police car three separate times during the chase before finally wrecking in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. After the wreck, the driver and passenger of the Cadillac Eldorado fled the scene on foot.

Harper is being considered a person of interest in the incident. He is 5’8, weighs about 191, and was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants.
