ALBANY, GA -- Phoebe Putney celebrated good news Monday--their Breast Imaging Center has been deemed a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
They are one of 18 in the state and the only hospital south of Macon to receive the honor.
The center had to undergo rigorous evaluation to qualify.
One thing that set them apart was the fact that you could find several specialists under one roof.
“We have a number of the surgeons right here in the building or right across the street, we have radiation oncology in the mezzanine of tower one and medical oncology all in tower two,” says Medical Director of the Cancer Center, Dr. Robert Krywicki.
The program was also named a Center of Excellence by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
