The annual Daddy-Daughter Dance raises money for local family organizations and builds relationships

ALBANY, GA -- Daughters young and old dolled up for the 14th Annual Daddy-Daughter Dance Friday night at the Albany Civic Center.

Girls Inc. of Albany says they see from toddlers to 18 year olds attend the dance each year. The first year the dance had 250 attendees; this year, they had 2,500.

The goal of the Daddy-Daughter Dance is to bring dads of all socioeconomic levels out to build a relationship with their daughter.

"We have dads here that are biological fathers, we have granddads, uncles...significant male role models, because we understand that that's so critical in the development of a girl," says LaKisha Bryant, Executive Director of Girls Inc.

Proceeds from the Daddy-Daughter Dance benefit Girls Inc. of Albany, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia and Flint River Habitat for Humanity.
