ALBANY, GA. -- Tax season began with the opening of electronic tax filing.

With the service, tax forms can be submitted via the web without having to print and mail information in to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

A tax preparer with Mauldin and Jenkins says the benefit of filing online can include getting returns faster and not having forms get lost in the mail.

Those making below a certain amount are also allowed to e-file for free.

“The IRS has provided some software that if your income is less than $57,000 you can use this software and file for free,” said Mauldin and Jenkins Certified Public Accountant John McDuffie.

IRS Free File software can be found by following this link.
