Albany stores victims of robberies Sunday night

Sunday the Albany Police Department responded to a number of robberies, including one at Emily's Coin Laundry on Radium Springs Road

ALBANY, GA -- On Sunday evening, the Albany Police Department released information about robberies that took place in Albany.

Police say at 9:38 p.m. an armed robbery took place at Emily's Coin Laundry at 1513 Radium Springs Road. They say two black men dressed in dark clothing and armed with a weapon entered the business, demanding money from the register and then one of the customers.

Investigators say they fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money from register. They say no money taken from customer that was searched.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call Albany Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS or the Albany Police Department at (229) 431-2100.



At 9:57 P.M. a robbery by snatching took place this evening at Western Sizzlin located at 2004 East Oglethorpe Boulevard. One of the customers, a black male, finished eating then walked to the register. When the cashier opened the register, he reached in and snatched money from the drawer. He fled the scene on foot but shortly afterwards he spotted by an off duty Sheriff's Deputy who was in the area.  The. Deputy was able to detain the the suspect for APD units. The suspect was not armed and there were no injuries reported. No charges have been filed at this time. Money taken from the register was recovered.
