ALBANY, GA -- The Marine Corps Band gave a performance Saturday night to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It was held at the Municipal Auditorium.

The main theme of the evening was "moving forward", playing songs like the Liberty Bell March, and even songs from star trek to symbolize space travel, and Superman to honor all the heroes out there.

But their main goal was to honor Dr. King.

“Paved the way for everything that we see today, for equality, for freedom that everybody can share, it's to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, to honor his life and his legacy,” says SSGT. Terri Kopetzki.

It was announced in December the Marine Corps Band is disbanding due to budget cuts.

Their next performance will be Monday night at 5:00 p.m. at the civic center for another Martin Luther King tribute.
