ALBANY, GEORGIA -- The Red Cross needs your help in this time of need.
According to the Red Cross, the southern blood region has seen a 20 percent decrease in blood donations. This decline is not uncommon during the winter when holiday planning, seasonal illness and travel often prevent donors from making their regular blood donations.
“The Red Cross is very appreciative our loyal blood and platelet donors who give of themselves to help save the lives of others,” said Mario Sedlock, director of donor services, American Red Cross, Southern Blood Services Region via email. “We would not be able to meet the needs of patients in the hospitals that we serve without their support.”
In Albany, you may donate blood at the Albany blood donation center located at 1515 Dawson Road. Their hours are Monday: 10 am – 7 pm. Tuesday: 8 am – 7 pm. Wednesday: 1 pm – 7 pm. Thursday through Saturday: 8 am – 2pm
