New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest drinking nights of the year which means a lot of business for local bars. 

For places like Harvest Moon, Owner Bo Henry says in preparation for the big night they are ordering 30 percent more alcohol than they do on a regular basis. He says they are expecting hundreds of people to flock to his establishment.

"We order extra food, all extra product, we bring in extra employees," says Henry. "It's a tough one trying to get them (employees) to… bring them into work on New Year’s Eve but they want to because it's a night for them to generate revenue for themselves."

Harvest Moon has been an Albany staple for nearly ten years and has a good guess as to what to expect for New Year's Eve; as for the newly established Cask and Kilt, they say they are not sure exactly what to expect but say they are prepared to have nearly 250 people enjoy the festivities there.

"We normally have good crowds on the weekends anyway and being that New Years is going to fall on a Saturday, I think it's just going to be a real good time," says Manager Kelli Bailey.

They say they ordered double the amount of Jägermeister that they normally order in anticipation for New Year's Eve.

"We have a lot of people who like the Jägerbombs. We've ordered about ten cases of champagne, which we do plan on doing a free champagne toast at midnight," says Bailey. "Our theory is better too much than not enough; don't want to run out of anything."

They also say they are prepared to not run out of staff.

"We've made sure that we've brought in enough bartenders, enough servers, enough security at the door so if we do have that big of a crowd we make sure everyone gets taken care of real well," says Bailey.

Henry says he's preparing for a large crowd at his establishments -- including Harvest Moon, Merry Acres and The Catch -- because he expects many will stay in town for the holiday.

"I think a lot of people will probably be staying in town more with the economy, they're not traveling as much so I feel we'll have a pretty good new years at all of the places this year," says Henry.
