Free lunch enrollment soars

ALBANY, GA. -- Close to 60 percent of Georgia’s public school students receive either free or reduced lunch.

That’s about 47,000 more than there were five years ago and experts believe there are even more families in need.

Across the United States over 20 million students participate in the program.

Experts believe this increase is a result of the recession.
