ALBANY, GA -- Albany City Attorney Nathan Davis is suggesting the city extend their moratorium on internet cafes.

Davis says he sees them as a violation of the state's gambling statute.

The popular cafes offer several gambling type games and sweepstakes, but some around the state have been the target of undercover illegal gambling stings.

There was a law passed in 2011 in regards to internet cafes, but it was never enacted. Davis is hoping Governor Nathan Deal will sign off on any new legislation that will clearly define what is an internet cafe.

Davis also called for regulating or banning event centers due to problems in the past with noise control, alcohol and basic public safety issues.
