ALBANY, GA. -- Not only is the Salvation Army reaching out to the community for food, they’re also in need of monetary donations.

This time of the year, the Salvation Army holds its largest public fundraiser to build funds for use throughout the year.

The local Red Kettle Christ Campaign is about $3,000 behind in collections.

This comes at a time when more people are asking for help.

“We've seen increases in requests for utility assistance, increases in our shelter activity, and increases in our feeding program,” said Salvation Army Captain Doug McClure, “We’ve even have more children for Christmas than we did last year in our combined program for Toys-for-Tots.”

This year the Salvation Army needs your help to make it yet another good year for people in southwest Georgia.
