ALBANY, GA. -- Cancer survivors in Worth County held a ceremony on Thursday to celebrate their success and remember those who've past on.

A reception was held at the City Hall for members of the American Cancer Society's 'Relay for Life' team.

Cancer survivors had the chance to have a snack all while sharing their personal stories.

“I had throat cancer first and then I lost my breast with cancer about three years after that,” said cancer survivor Mary Powel.

“I've been a survivor for 9 years and I thank God for being as well as I am. And I thank him for being here among the other survivors and I thank God for each and every one that's here,” said breast cancer survivor Sara Fowler.

The reception was followed by a tree lighting ceremony.
