ALBANY, GA -- Fire fighters responded Tuesday night to a fire on Fifth Avenue.

It happened around 10 p.m.

Albany Fire Department officials say the fire started in the trash can in the bedroom of the house at 618 Fifth Avenue.

An elderly hospice patient had to be helped out of the house and taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

She is expected to be fine.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to just the bedroom.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
