ALBANY, GA -- Dougherty County Chairman Jeff Sinyard is encouraging people to voice their opinions about the Albany postal processing center closing.

Sinyard has asked the County Attorney, Spencer Lee to write a letter to Congressman Sanford Bishop and Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss asking them to keep in mind that we are one of the poorest congressional districts in the nation and how important it is to keep jobs local.

“Given the scenario that we have with our unemployment and with our jobs at such a loss and trying to rebuild our region from an economic development stand point, this would be a good place to start,” says Sinyard.

There will be a town hall meeting on Tuesday at Albany Technical College's Kirkland Building at 6:00 p.m. to explain the possible consolidation of our processing center with Tallahassee’s.
